Sensei John

John was born and raised in Paris, France. He started exploring the basics of karate at the age of nine years old. In his teenage years, he went on to practice Viet-Vo-Dao, a traditional Vietnamese martial art known for its feline-like style and flying scissors techniques, while also practicing the Brazilian art Capoeira.

While in college, John studied in Barcelona, Spain, where he took the opportunity to learn the Israeli Self Defense system, Krav Maga.

At the age of 24, John moved to Israel and learned some basics of Ninjutsu until work sent him to the Caribbean between the beautiful Islands of St Maarten, Aruba, and finally St Thomas, where he then met his wife and settled.

The perfect balance between Shorin Ryu Karate practice under Grand Master Jerry Otto and realistic self-defense training at the Shen Dragon Karate Dojo was vital in developing the techniques to achieve his 1st Degree Black belt Shorin Ryu Karate.

Today, Sensei John is also a Realtor at Sea Glass Properties, selling homes in St Thomas and St John.
